In the Fields the cool breeze was blowing the mist. And if you look close up you can see the small droplets cutting through the wind and then falling back as if they were tired. The droplets lowered in the air and settled on blades of grass on a small prairie. Then the droplets slowly slipped of the grass onto the soil and sunk in as if they were taking a brief nap after all their hard work building a suitable formation for a cloud of mist. It was early in the morning and the vibrant colours of the sun arose and dyed the clouds a lovely scarlet bringing serenity to the land around. The mist cleared and revealed a crescent moon watching over the peaceful woods. She battled for her place in the sky by shining as bright as a white button on a beautiful calico dress. The bleakly coloured craters of our moon made it look more aged as if it had a story that needed to be read.
A Brief History
200 years ago Le Chateau was a huge castle. On the land 2 massive yew trees grow and the monks cleaned up the swamps. That is why we call it Yew Tree Farm. During world war 2 Aquitaine was invaded by the Germans. Many people died and the Germans burnt down Le Chateau and in the 1950s Le Chateau was rebuilt.

Today we enjoyed a drive to the nearest town called Mussidan.
Along the winding road to Mussidan the woods were still and there were no deer because all the wild life in the woods of Double were in hibernation. The cold air was whistling through the gigantic trees and you could hear a quiet rustle of the wind through the leaves. The scenery was so beautiful that the winding road to Mussidan seemed to go on forever. We suddenly started to see signs of civilization, it was the village of Saint-Front-De-Pradoux which was on the way to Mussidan. More civilization was coming. Eventually we arrived at the bridge connecting civilization to nature with water flowing under it. The river seemed to be flowing with excitement because of all the new people crossing the bridge, and then we arrived at the supermarket.

Where I am!
Me and My Family own Yew Tree Farm which is home to my home Le Chateau and Yew Tree Farm is also home to Catkin Creek. Yew Tree Farm is in a very small village called Saint-Michel-De-Double in the region of Dordogne which has very clean air. The Dordogne is in the department of Aquitaine. We are right in the middle of the largest forest in Europe called The Double, that is why this site is called little chateau in the big woods. My Parents and I are inspired by an old television show called “Little House on the Prairie” based on the life story of Laura Ingalls Wilder. The books written by her start with “Little House in the Big Woods” then “Little House on the Prairie” then “On the banks of Plum Creek” and “Little House in the Ozarks”. There are more books, they are very interesting because they have inspired us to call this website Little Chateau in the Big Woods and Catkin Creek would have never been named without those books and same goes with Yew Tree Farm.
